Lesson #57 Death: For the Unbeliever, Death is universal; all life faces death. God is the sole exception, although believers who are alive at the return of Christ in the air for His church will not taste physical death. Nevertheless, God has pronounced physical death as a result of sin. Consequently sin is universal. Physical death deals with the body only and does not mean the cessation of existence. Upon physical death the spirit and the soul live independently of the body but will be reunited with their bodies at the resurrection. Nevertheless, the death of an unbeliever is different in many aspects to that of the believers. Death still remains a universal reality. Are you prepared for death? Are you prepared to meet the Maker and Master of all? Read: Psalm 49:10 People die regardless of their station in life Romans 5:12 Death passed upon all men Hebrews 9:27 Man is appointed to die, then comes judgment Genesis 2:17 Thou shalt surely die... spiritual death Ephesians 2:1,5 The natural or unregenerate man, the unbeliever, is in a state of spiritual death... unless redeemed Ezekiel 18:20 The soul that sinneth shall die Revelation 20:14-15 The second death for all unbelievers Romans 6:23 Eternal life or eternal death Romans 5:21 Eternal life through Jesus Christ John 5:24 The believer has everlasting life 1 Corinthians 5:1-8 Absent from the body is present with the Lord Psalms 116:15 The death of His saints is precious in the sight of the Lord Romans 14:8 Whether we live or die we are the Lord's Scripture Assurance: I Corinthians 15:55-57 O death, where is thy sting? O gave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Scripture Memory: II Corinthians 5:8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
