Lesson #48 Ordinances: Communion The Lord’s table, communion, is for believers in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. The service and participation in this ordinance emphasized one’s personal reflection upon Calvary and the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Also, what that means to the believer in light of his redemption from sin as well as the blessed hope of the return of Jesus Christ. This ordinance is also looking forward to His crowning as King... an event of the ages. As Christians we are admonished to examine ourselves in preparation for the taking of this ordinance. Focus Read: Matthew 26:26-29 Jesus initiates the Lord’s supper. Mark 14:22-25 Jesus body and His blood. Luke 22:17-20 Do this in remembrance of Jesus. I Corinthians 11:23-29 A table of remembrance, of obedience, of testimony, of expectation, of warning, of examination for all believers. John 6:47-51;53-58;63 These words are spirit and life. Scripture Assurance: I Corinthians 11:26 For as often as you eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do show the Lord’s death till he come. Scripture Memory: Colossians 1:13-14 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sin.
