The devil is not only the arch enemy of God and of Jesus Christ but is the enemy of all mankind, especially believers. His desire is to thwart the gospel of Jesus Christ that sets men free from the bondage of sin. To tempt those that would succumb to worldly sinful pleasure and indulgences of the flesh as well as to rob Christians of the joy of their salvation. One should never ignore the presence of the devil in this world nor minimize his power to reduce one’s resistance to his wiles. Satan is not god nor does he possess the attributes of deity. Still, he is a powerful adversary.
